ConceptionIVF is a division of Patients Medical — founded in 1974 by Dr. Robert Atkins and Dr. Warren Levin. We have been building families internationally since 2006, before most surrogacy agencies existed.
Patients Medical was founded in 1974 by Dr. Robert Atkins — creator of the Atkins Diet — and Dr. Warren M. Levin, MD, a founding member of the American College for Advancement in Medicine (ACAM) and a pioneer of integrative and functional medicine in New York City.
Since 2004, the practice has been led by Dr. Rashmi Gulati, MD, a Board-Certified physician with over 30 years of experience specializing in Functional Medicine and reproductive endocrinology. Dr. Gulati has a particular focus on women over 40 facing fertility challenges — her oldest patient to successfully deliver a baby was 52 years old, with the birth at Mount Sinai Hospital in Manhattan, where Dr. Gulati holds full medical privileges.
In 2006, Dr. Satty Gill Keswani, MD joined the practice. Dr. Keswani is a Board-Certified Reproductive Endocrinologist, Holistic Gynecologist, and Infertility Specialist with over 30 years of experience. She has pioneered fertility techniques in artificial insemination since 1990 and has delivered over 1,000 babies. In March 2006 she received a Physician of the Year award from a major national physician organization.
Also in 2006, we began offering surrogacy journeys in India for under $30,000 through our sister website IndianEggDonors.com — compared to $100,000+ in the USA — establishing our practice as a dominant presence internationally. By 2012, over 25,000 babies had been born to Indian surrogates, with ~50% of intended parents from the USA and Europe.
In 2015, the Indian Government banned surrogacy for non-Indians. In 2016, we expanded to Ghana, Canada, Georgia, and Armenia, ensuring continuity for all intended parents.
In 2008, we established DGA, Inc., registered with New York State (Tissue Bank Facility License #1570) and with the Food and Drug Administration (FEI # 3021544308). In 2022 we were among the first agencies approved under New York State’s surrogacy agency registration program (NYS License GSP220903).
Additional licensing: California Tissue Bank License (CTP 00082276, since 2021), Maryland Tissue Bank License (since 2022), and in 2023 we registered in Canada as a Sperm and Ova Primary Establishment (Registration # 000119).
