Adhesions

Bands of scar tissue inside the pelvis that can affect the fallopian tubes or uterus, sometimes causing infertility.

AMH (Anti-Müllerian Hormone)

A blood test that measures ovarian reserve (how many eggs remain).

Antral Follicle Count (AFC)

An ultrasound measurement of the number of small follicles in the ovaries — another indicator of egg quantity.

Assisted Hatching (AH)

A laboratory technique where a tiny opening is made in the embryo’s outer shell to help implantation.

Basal Body Temperature (BBT)

Your resting temperature, sometimes used to track ovulation patterns.

Beta hCG

A blood test that confirms pregnancy and measures the progression of early pregnancy.

Cleavage Stage Embryo

An embryo that has divided into 2, 4, or 8 cells by Day 2 or 3 of development.

Cryopreservation

Freezing eggs, sperm, or embryos for future use

Cycle Monitoring

Regular ultrasounds and blood tests to track follicle growth and hormone levels during treatment.

Donor Eggs / Donor Sperm

Eggs or sperm used from a donor when needed for conception due to medical or genetic reasons.

Diagnostic Cycle

A testing cycle that focuses on evaluating hormones, ovulation, and reproductive health before treatment.

Egg Retrieval

A short procedure to collect mature eggs from the ovaries during an IVF cycle.

Embryo Transfer

Placement of an embryo into the uterus, usually on Day 3 or Day 5 (blastocyst stage).

Endometrium

ERA (Endometrial Receptivity Analysis)

Follicle

A fluid-filled sac in the ovary that contains a developing egg.

Gametes

Gonadotropins

hCG Trigger Shot

HyCoSy / HSG Test

Imaging tests that check if the fallopian tubes are open.

ICSI (Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection)

IUI (Intrauterine Insemination)

A fertility treatment where prepared sperm is placed into the uterus at ovulation.

Implantation

When an embryo attaches to the uterine lining.

LH Surge

Luteal Phase

The second half of the menstrual cycle, after ovulation.

Motility

A measure of how well sperm are able to swim.

Morphology
